Part 3 - Wrapping Up

We’ve now reached the end - you’ve completed and automated a common scenario in handling medical imaging data.

  1. Received DICOM imaging data from a clinical environment containing PHI
  2. Decided to store the data in a common, accessible and secure space
  3. De-identified the received imaging data to remove PHI from the DICOM metadata
  4. Taken into consideration risk of re-identification in the image and defaced/refaced the image
  5. Run further processing on the images to gain volumetric information

To do this you’ve automated and streamlined many of the steps by using a centrally set-up system, and pre-built container based tools. You’ve also compared the effect of defacing on your downstream processing.

In 3-1 Conclusions you’ll summarise what you have found and learnt throughout the project into a short presentation to give on Friday at the end of the Summer School.

If you’ve finished early, take a look at 3-2 Additional Processing for some ideas of additional activities you can do around interacting with data and processing on the XNAT.
