Pilar Garcia-Souto

Prof Garcia-Souto is an Associate Professor in Medical Physics and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is also a member of the Centre for Engineering Education, and the e-learning Champion and the Enterprise Champion (Teaching) for her department. She is currently Chair for the Education Delivery Group in the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Digital Health (IHE) and the Co-Deputy Director for the MEng/BEng in Biomedical Engineering programme, which she co-led its design and development of the programme and has significant teaching responsibilities. Given the current social distancing restrictions, she has successfully adapted the program to on-line teaching. Pilar has attained institutional but also international recognition within Engineering Education. She has presented in over 20 national and international conferences since 2014, run numerous seminars to academics, and co-designed and ran a two-day Master Class in South Africa for over 20 academics from 7 higher education institutions, focused in “Authentic Assessment and Feedback”. In 2018 she and the rest of the BME team received the UCL Education Award Certificate by the Engineering Faculty in the team category. In 2020 she received the UCL Education Award (Individual).
